Simon Machabeli is a Georgian designer whose work spans across multiple disciplines within the performing arts, including theater, film, and fashion. From an early stage in his career, Simon distinguished himself as a talented set designer, collaborating with theaters both in Georgia and internationally during his student years.
He studied Set Design at the Tbilisi Academy of Fine Arts and later specialized in Performance Costume at the Edinburgh College of Art. In 2008, he completed his MA in Womenswear at the iconic Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London, a course renowned for shaping some of the most innovative voices in contemporary fashion.
Upon returning to Georgia, Simon produced several distinctive fashion collections and worked extensively as a costume and production designer for various theater productions and feature films. His work often draws inspiration from Georgian religious art, sacred costumes, and deeply personal narratives, resulting in aesthetic interpretations that are both historically resonant and strikingly modern.
Known for his precision as a draftsman and his deep understanding of fashion’s technical language, Simon Machabeli challenges the transient nature of the fashion industry. He creates non-seasonal garments that exist outside of conventional fashion cycles, focusing instead on storytelling, craftsmanship, and timeless quality. His designs embody a unique blend of intellectual rigor and artistic depth, positioning him as a singular voice within Georgia’s creative landscape and beyond.
